British F4: JHR Developments hit the headlines in Norfolk with double victory

JHR Developments underlined their championship aspirations in the F4 British Championship after a double victory for Matthew Rees at Snetterton.

The Welsh teenager continued his impressive qualifying form to take his third and fourth pole positions in a row respectively, before dominating the opening race in a lights-to-flag victory, with team-mate McKenzy Cresswell third.

The pair then repeated that performance during Sunday’s ITV4-televised final race, propelling Rees back into title contention, whilst a third podium in four races for Cresswell ensures he now sits third overall and still in touch with the leaders.

Their efforts went a long way to propelling Steven Hunter’s outfit back into Teams Cup contention, the Derbyshire team now sit just 27 points shy of Fortec at the summit, with a comfortable margin back to third-placed Arden.

Abbi Pulling was able to break into the top ten in the standings with a brace of points finishes, including an equal season-best fifth place after a superb defensive drive in race three.

That result will give her a good foundation to build from at the next event at Brands Hatch, whilst plenty of forward progress for Thruxton race winner Joseph Loake ensured he too would add to his points tally, the Macclesfield teenager now sixth overall.

Elsewhere, another podium ensures James Hedley will retain the championship lead heading to Brands in a fortnight, the margin back to Rees now 25 points, whilst Cresswell sits three points clear of Rees in the Rookie Cup.
