Witham Group: The Sustainable Choice

In recent years, there has been an increased focus to live and work more sustainably across the globe – and this is something that is right at the heart of all that we do.

Traditionally, the lubricant industry requires additives, chemicals and fossil-based energy in order to produce our wide range of essential products. However, we’ve been working for a number of years on ways to challenge the way our products are produced, supplied and disposed of, and the bigger issue of the environmental impact we have.

The outcome has been our unique ‘greener culture’, and a commitment to making a real difference both in the way we run our business but also to our customers’ supply chains. Here are just some of the ways that we can help you, and your business, to reach your own sustainability and environmental goals.

1. Unique carbon neutral blended lubricants

We have developed a new, ground-breaking blending system using ultrasound which dramatically reduces the energy from fossil fuels used to manufacture lubricants. This is a global first and is proven to blend lubricant products in a carbon neutral way, saving energy, time and carbon use.

For our customers, using carbon neutrally blended lubricants in your supply chain is a simple way to reduce your impact and is a powerful statement when achieving and promoting your own sustainability goals.

2. Outstanding environmentally sensitive products

We are also proud to have developed a growing range of award-winning, high performance, environmentally sensitive and biodegradable lubricants including Biolube, Prolan and Enviroyl just to name a few. These products are all designed to either reduce environmental impact, decrease engine emissions. improve fuel economy and or help the end user have quality products with less toxic affect.

With new products including a new range of non-lithium based greases in the pipeline, we’re continually innovating to provide our customers with  ’greener’ choices, and removing the need for traditional harmful products.

3. Low impact packaging

There are many ways in which we are reducing and recycling our packaging and making it simpler for our customers to as well. Our plastic lubricant containers are now made from a minimum of 30% recycled materials and we offer a recycling scheme for our 200 litre metal barrels. In addition, we use reconditioned pallets in our warehouses and all of our packaging use is measured and assessed using our specialised packaging waste dashboard.

By using our products, you’re contributing to this substantial packaging reduction and reducing the amount of packaging waste polluting the environment.

4. Safe and clean oil storage solutions

Our popular bulk storage solutions are another simple way to reduce your businesses’ environmental impact. Helping to keep workspaces clean, tidy and safe, we supply a specialist range of bulk storage tanks to meet your lubricant needs and fill them up using a colour coded and product labelling system.

By using these tanks and reducing the need for individual packaging drums, this system also helps avoid oil contamination, and offers good workshop practice. With good maintenance your tanks will last for 50+ years – which means a lot of years of less packaging!

5. Industry accreditations and awards

Our commitment to the environment is more than just saying what we’re planning to do, it’s proving that we’re already making a difference and as a supplier to businesses across the UK, we are helping others too. We are proud to be accredited with both the British Standards EN ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, both of which endorse the quality of our environmental practices, as well as the proud holder of a Royal Warrant to HM The Queen, and as such our environmental credentials are proved on an ongoing basis..

For more and more businesses, achieving the goals set out in your environmental policies relies on the expertise and commitment of your supply chain too. To read our how we can help your business, read our Sustainability Brochure by clicking the image below.
