Calcium Grease – The Growing Sustainable Option

Greases provide a vital role in ensuring vehicles and equipment run to maximum performance. From reducing friction and wear and tear, protecting against corrosion, sealing out dust and dirt to absorbing shocks and vibrations their benefits are many.
For the past 60 years multi-purpose greases, based on lithium technology have made up more than 70% of the worlds lubricating grease. However, in recent years the demand for the mining of lithium continues to expand at an exponential rate as car manufacturers are being targeted to reduce CO2 emissions, by using battery operated vehicles, and the consequence of this is that lithium prices have reached an all-time high and the raw material itself is becoming a scarce commodity.
As a result of this a new wave of anhydrous Calcium based greases (contains no water) are now able to offer significant sustainable advantages and savings to lithium due to less impact from extraction and transportation. In addition, the anhydrous calcium-based thickener is stable and more predictable. It is more abundant in supply, found in many continents and countries around the world.
All these advantages are not the only success, the new anhydrous Calcium technology providing outstanding water resistance and surface adhesion, increased corrosion protection and shear stability. This product is ideal for many universal applications and suited to the lubrication of plain bearings, wire ropes, chains, rails, and geared applications across a full range of equipment, where operating temperatures are not excessively high.

Qualube Extreme Pressure MP2 Grease: For High Performance
We are pleased to now offer our exciting new Qualube Extreme Pressure Multi-Purpose Grease range which is made with Calcium instead of traditional Lithium. This new product, is an anhydrous calcium thickened lubricating grease based on a mineral oil and does not sacrifice on performance and can perform better than lithium in terms of oxidation resistance, dropping point and mechanical stability, due to its unique rust inhibitors, emulsifier and new thickening technology.
The grease contains antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors and EP/AW additives. The thickener, together with the special base oil blend, makes the product suitable for the lubrication of medium loaded bearings and in wet and corrosive environments. The lubricating grease has excellent adhesion and water resistance. This multi-purpose grease can be used in both industrial and automotive applications and is ideal for agricultural, plant and off road and commercial machinery and is recommended for a wide range of plain and anti-friction rolling bearings.
This high-quality, grease offers an extremely high-water resistance, is easy to apply and has a smooth yellow texture, able to operate in a temperature range of -30C to 120C. Our Calcium MEP2 Grease is available in the following sizes: 400g grease cartridges, 18kg containers and 50kg containers.

Make Sure You Get the Right Grease for The Right Application
Since not all grease applications are the same, finding a suitable one for the job can be daunting. There are a whole range of greases available for different applications from Food Grade greases to High Temperature, Lanolin based and greases specially for wire ropes.
To select the best one for your industrial application, it’s important to understand how each works, the features required for optimum performance and what the OEM of your machinery requires.
