Celebrating Speedworks Corolla Racing’s BTCC Success at Oulton Park

Here at Witham Motorsport, we are absolutely thrilled to extend our massive congratulations to our partners, Speedworks Corolla Racing, following an incredible performance at their home circuit, Oulton Park, this past weekend.
As a team competing just 20 minutes from their Cheshire headquarters, the stakes and expectations are always sky-high for this event. Surrounded by a fantastic atmosphere of home fans, guests, and partners, the squad put on a masterclass in resilience, speed, and track craft. We could not be prouder to support them as their official lubricant partner as they continue to showcase the formidable pace of the Toyota Corolla GR Sport package.
Double Silver for Josh Cook
The weekend kicked off with a brilliant showcase of driving from Josh Cook. After a strong qualifying session, Josh battled hard in the newly introduced ‘Race to Pole’ contest on Saturday, securing a fantastic second-place finish and a front-row grid slot for Sunday.
He converted that front-row start into a stellar podium finish in Race One, bringing the car home in 2nd place after a fiercely competitive drive. While a mandatory switch to the hard compound tyre in Race Two temporarily halted his charge, Josh saved the best for last. In Race Three, he delivered an absolute masterclass in overtaking, carving his way through the field from 16th to finish a phenomenal 5th—gaining an incredible 11 positions and proving just how fast and balanced the Corolla chassis is this season.
A Heroic Recovery from Rookie Max Buxton
Over on the other side of the garage, BTCC rookie Max Buxton showed the true meaning of grit. Struck down by a nasty virus, Max was forced to sit out the entirety of Saturday’s track action, missing vital practice and qualifying laps on one of the UK’s most physically demanding circuits.
To return to the pit lane on Sunday morning after such a setback is an achievement in itself, but Max went above and beyond. Starting from the back of the grid in 21st for Race One, he fought his way up to 18th, followed by two incredibly mature and consistent 16th-place finishes in Races Two and Three. His determination to bag valuable mileage, experience, and confidence under immense pressure was nothing short of inspiring.
A Word from the Team…
Christian Dick, Team Principal, Speedworks Corolla Racing: “Oulton Park is always a special weekend for us and I think everyone can leave feeling proud of the effort and performance we showed across the event. Josh was superb throughout… For Max, simply being back in the car on Sunday was an achievement in itself… The whole team has worked exceptionally hard, and the chassis package is performing at a very high level.”
Josh Cook, Driver: “We showed strong pace from the outset and the car felt competitive throughout. Finishing second in the Race to Pole and then backing that up with another podium in race one was a good reward for the work the team has put in… There are lots of positives to take away.”
Max Buxton, Driver: “It certainly wasn’t the weekend I expected after feeling unwell and missing all of Saturday, but I’m pleased with how we recovered… the team gave me a great car, and we kept making progress throughout the day.”
