Driving Sustainability: Our Latest Environmental Initiatives

Witham Group Driving Sustainability

As an established manufacturer in the UK’s lubricants industry, we have long been recognised for our innovation and quality products.

However, in recent years, the company has emerged as a leading light in the fight to reduce carbon emissions and invent innovative ways to be a more sustainable business. Here we summarise some of our progress over the past few years and what the next steps will be over the months ahead….

NEW FOCUS ON OUR MEASURING AND MONITORING

Our commitment to sustainability begins with our product development. The company has made a significant shift towards developing environmentally friendly lubricants and related products. This includes an extensive range of fuel-efficient truck, van and passenger car lubricants, plus biodegradable products and Witham ProLan Lubricant for maintenance plus many others, that minimise environmental harm when used in various industrial applications, including agriculture, marine, horticulture and green energy industries.

Carbon Reduction and Energy Efficiency

Another key area where the Witham Group has made strides is in our carbon reduction. Using our ultrasonic Blendtek solutions system and investing in solar based technology, we have been able to demonstrate an unrivalled level energy efficiency in both our production processes and facilities.

By developing our unique ultrasound technology and using it instead of fossil fuel energy in our blending and manufacturing process we have drastically reduced our gas consumption by over 93%. We have been able to significantly reduce our carbon footprint in a way that is leading in the lubricant industry and will continue to measure and monitor this achievement going forward.

Waste Management and Recycling Initiatives

Effective waste management is another cornerstone of Witham Group’s environmental strategy. The company actively promotes a circular economy model, where waste materials are recycled and repurposed whenever possible. By reducing waste at every stage of production, from raw material sourcing to packaging, Witham Group is taking significant steps to minimise its impact on landfills.

The company’s lubricants are packaged in containers made from a growing percentage of recycled materials, further contributing to the reduction of plastic waste. Additionally, we promote responsible disposal and recycling of used oils and lubricants, encouraging our customers to do the same.

Looking Ahead: The Next Steps

We are now working hard to take the next steps on our environmental improvement journey. This will include the establishment of a supply chain management system that will keep records of all our suppliers and their own credentials for sustainability, social and corporate governance. We are also going to be measuring and monitoring the carbon footprint produced by the different products we produce so we can see what effect each type of product we make has on our carbon footprint. By integrating green initiatives into our core business operations, Witham Group is demonstrating that environmental progress and business success can go hand in hand. As the company continues on this path, we are proud to stand out as a key player within our industry in driving positive change for the environment.
