Prolan: Highly effective protection in challenging marine and saltwater environments

Derived from the lanolin from sheep’s wool, this powerful natural lubricant range offers extremely high-quality lubrication and protective qualities for many different industries, yet with unique properties that keep the environment safe.

One area which has seen outstanding results in on machinery used in saltwater, including wind turbine machinery, fishing boat, pleasure crafts vessels, ferries, harbours and marinas and hundreds of other coastal and marine linked businesses.

Safe, easy-to-use and biodegradable, Prolan’s unique, natural water-repelling properties create an air-tight barrier in the most corrosive environments, protecting moisture and oxygen from contacting metal surfaces, electrical connections, plastics, synthetic rubbers and paint and yet without seeping anything harmful into the rivers or oceans.

Prolan’s anti-seize grease is ideal for all stainless-steel threads, and for the assembly and disassembly of equipment requiring regular maintenance. It has an amazing ability to release rusted parts and its non-conductive properties also make an excellent barrier against electrolysis. Prolan can be used to prevent corrosion and rust build up on an unlimited list of surfaces and machinery, whilst ensuring that no nasty chemicals enter the waterway. This natural lubricant shows unrivalled properties in the protection of wood surfaces, as well as onboard and in house areas such as hinges, gates, handles, and chains.

One recent case study highlighted a 26 tons digger, being shipped to the Pacific Islands to work in tough, saltwater conditions. All exposed bolt heads, hydraulic fittings and cadmium or nickel coated components were coated with a thick layer of Prolan Grease, and the flat panel internal cavities are coated with Prolan Heavy Grade. The Grease is expected to still be on the surface after six years, and the Heavy Grade two years – both of which can be extended with maintenance coats to improve these results even further.

As sole importer and distributor of Prolan products in the UK and Ireland, it won’t come as a surprise that we fully endorse this environmentally friendly, lanolin-based range of lubricants. We are proud to stock five Prolan varieties of these amazing lubricants, from Light, ideal for electrical components, right through to Extreme Grade, suitable for heavy machinery used in harsh conditions such saltwater, sand and mud. We also sell Prolan anti-seize Grease, which protects metal, rubber and battery terminals with a lifespan of up to an incredible thirty years, and the Prolan Specific Degreaser, a highly effective, citrus-based cleaner which is designed specifically to remove any unwanted greasy areas left by the Prolan range.

Prolan is available in five different viscosities, from light grade to anti-sieze grease.
