Lucy Lavers gets a lick of paint

Lucy Lavers is a veteran Dunkirk Little Ship restored by Rescue Wooden Boats, and we’re delighted to provide ongoing support for this important project by donating the paint used by the team to keep her maintained.

Now based in the working fishing port of Well-next-the-Sea, she was originally built in 1939 for Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station. Her shallow draft made her suitable for her first service at the Dunkirk Rescue Operation in 1940. After serving as a relief lifeboat, she was donated to Recue Wooden Boats and restored in time for the 75th anniversary of Dunkirk in 2015.

Rescue Wooden Boats said:

We could not have got Lucy Lavers ready for the season without the support from Witham Group, they donate all the paint and we love how shiny and new she looks.

She can now be booked or chartered for trips this year from Wells-next-the-Sea, north Norfolk from April – October, through Curlew Coastal Charters.

We’re proud to support a number of different community projects, which you can read more about here
