Motul’s new Hybrid range

Motul’s Hybrid Range was first of its kind on the market when launched, and is going from strength to strength as the hybrid and full-electric car market continues to grow across the world.

There are different types of hybrid vehicles, of varying popularity, which offer a range of different benefits. Mild hybrids (a conventional engine with an optional hybrid mode); hybrid electric vehicles (HEVS – electric systems charged during the running of the combustion engine) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs – vehicles with conventional engines and a sizeable electric motor which requires an external source of electricity), all continue to require engine oil to maintain the internal components of their combustion engines.

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) do not have a conventional internal combustion engine and are plugged in to charge. Neither this nor an FCEV (fuel cell electric vehicle) require traditional engine oil. Motul’s dedicated hybrid range of engine lubricants is compatible with HEVs, PHEVs and mild hybrids. The hybrid range specifically only offers 0W engine oils, meaning they are an extremely low viscosity, as hybrid engines (using the combustion engine sporadically) will typically run at lower operating temperatures.

Motul Hybrid 0W-20: 100% Synthetic “fuel economy” engine oil specially designed for Hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs) which are required to use a 0W20 oil.
Motul HYBRID 0W-16: 100% Synthetic “fuel economy” engine oil specially designed for Hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs) which are required to use a 0W16 oil.
