Surface Preparation: The Foundation for a Durable Finish

FOR PAINTED OR POWER-FLOATED FLOORS:

1. Abrasive Cleaning: Remove all existing paint and the hard glazed finish using methods such as sandblasting.
2. Deep Cleaning: Ensure the surface is free from dirt, grease, and other contaminants

FOR ROUGH-TEXTURED FLOORS:

1. Thorough Cleaning: Clean the surface with a suitable detergent and steam cleaning to remove dirt, dust, oil, and grease.
2. Drying Time: Allow the floor to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.

FLOOR PAINT – THE WOCO KOVERFLOR CHOICE

For concrete floors, we recommend using either Woco Koverflor Type D (Two Pack Epoxy) Floor Paint (TDS 461) – which is suitable for heavy traffic areas and highly resistant to most chemicals, petroleum products and detergents.  Woco Koverflor Type F (Single Pack) Floor Paint (TDS 462) is also extremely hard wearing and suitable for lighter traffic areas such as workshops and showrooms.  Our Paint Experts are happy to recommend the best product for your concrete floor.

Painting Process: A Two-Coat Approach

Once your floor is adequately prepared, apply follow these painting steps for optimal results:

1. First Coat Application:
   • Thin the first coat of paint with Woco Two Pack Epoxy Thinners  at a rate of 10%
   • Apply the thinned paint using a brush or roller.
   • Allow the paint to dry for at least 16 hours or overnight.
2. Second Coat Application:
   • Apply the second coat of paint without any thinner.
   • Ensure even coverage, avoiding pooling in uneven areas.
   • Consider the ambient temperature. For optimal curing, the temperature should be between 15-20°C. Below 4°C, the paint may not cure properly.

Curing and Maintenance:

• Drying Time: Allow the painted floor to dry for a minimum of 5 days without heavy traffic.
• Durability: The properly applied paint will offer exceptional durability, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance.
