Qualube Helps Prevent Floods In Lincolnshire

Scunthorpe and Gainsborough water management recently showed us their two 1950’s/1960’s pumping engines, that help drain a large area of arable land and villages, north of Gainsborough.

They required some Qualube Oils and grease for servicing and maintenance on this site. We supplied Qualube Series 1 HD 20 and Eurofleet 15W/40 as well as Calcium 0 and Lithium Complex greases.

One engine is a Blackstone 3 cylinder diesel, and one a Ruston of Lincoln 4 cylinder diesel, driving pumps to remove excess water during heavy periods of rain. This is pumped into the River Trent, to flow out to sea via the Humber Estuary.

There is also an electric pump, but the old timers are often still required during bouts of  heavy rain, to keep up. These two engines drive pumps that move a cubic meter (1,000 litres) of water per second, each!
