SOHAM DIRECTOR DAVID CRABB RETIRES…

An incredible journey of success…

At the end of last year, we said goodbye to our friend Mr David Crabb, as he retired from the dayto-day running of the Witham, Soham business. Thankfully for us, we are pleased to confirm he will remain on our Board of Directors to help on strategic projects on behalf of the Witham Group.

David started working at the then Eastern Counties Lubricants (ECL) Company in Soham in the 1970’s, where he had worked his way up to become a director. As Witham Group expanded into Cambridgeshire, we acquired ECL and with-it David which arguably was its greatest asset then and is still today.

David’s list of achievements over the years is extensive, to say the least but here are a few…

He started as our depot Director in Soham. He then took on the mantle of Finance Director for the whole Witham Group, producing our very first accounts for the Board. He has steered ECL (now Witham Oil & Paint (Soham) Limited) from a small  regional business with a small turnover to a much larger more successful  company.

This business now supports many customers throughout the whole of the UK and some selected customers abroad. It is the ‘go-to-site’ for all items decorative and also of course the Motorsport division of the Group. The company has moved from a small warehouse with an office, to a purpose built 70k sq. ft. site bought and paid for.

David has also brought on a number of new young, enthusiastic Team members over his years, training them in the Witham Way to do business. Bringing on a new Team, is arguably David’s greatest achievement and a proud legacy to leave. David has been and always will be a trusted member of the Witham Team and he will be sorely missed.
