The Liebherr Crawler Crane: the biggest machine we’ve ever been involved with

This Liebherr Crawler Crane is serviced and maintained by Chapman Engineering in Pontefract, Yorkshire. This giant is currently being used to lift wind  turbine towers, weighing a whopping 186 tonnes, although if configured with a shorter boom, and extra counterweights, it is capable of lifting an amazing 800 tonnes!

As you can see this crane is a huge machine, when crossing the Humber Bridge, it stands above everything else in sight! Jamie Chapman’s high roof Mercedes Sprinter van is parked here beside the crane, which gives more of an idea of the vast scale of this monster.
