Top step of the podium for Charlie at Brands Hatch

Another great performance from Charlie Butler-Henderson…
‘MINI UK Brand Ambassador Charlie Butler-Henderson steered his way to another strong points haul at Brands Hatch last weekend (7th-8th May). In searing heat, Charlie secured another victory around the challenging Grand Prix circuit.
On the back of his round one triumph, Charlie was keen to build on his championship standing during round two. Despite the added challenge of the heat, he climbed into the driving seat for qualifying.
On a circuit that is very fast and demanding, Charlie and the team opted for a different set up during qualifying. With the new Dunlop tyre compound, the team decided to focus on a stronger race pace, and so were on the back foot during qualifying, to line up in sixth place.
As race one unfolded Charlie held onto his sixth place. As he headed onto his final lap, he pulled off a late lunge into the infamous Paddock Hill Bend to pass team mate Rob Smith for fifth place. However, after a jump start penalty for fellow competitor Luke Caudle, Charlie was promoted to fourth place.
A second place start for race two gave Charlie a sound chance at success. After trailing his team mate on the opening lap, he soon saw his opportunity to take his chances. A spot of late breaking into Paddock Hill Bend handed Charlie the lead of the race, and with an eventual three second advantage and fastest lap, he steered his way to another race win.
“Brands Hatch is one of my favourite circuits, especially the Grand Prix layout. It is very demanding, and with the hot weather all weekend it certainly was a challenge. I’m over the moon with the result, another race win is fantastic. I can’t thank the team enough,” said Charlie.
Charlie will next climb aboard his MINI Challenge race car at Silverstone during 28th-29th May.’
