Vintage Fordson ET6 Restoration Project

This Fordson ET6 truck was an impulse buy from eBay and was brought back to Kirstead, Norfolk on the back of Barmby Tractors lorry all the way from Rugby.

The customer is a builder by trade and has restored a few vintage tractors in the past so decided to complete the work himself. As the existing back was quite rotten, he decided to make a new lorry back out of mahogany hard wood. This was purchased from Mitchell Demolition, Norwich – it was the floor of a grain store.

The lorry back was varnished inside and underneath. The drop sides, tailboard and headboard needed to be painted green to match the cab.

On a recommendation from Ben Scott of S & G Agri, the customer came to see us the Suffolk Show, and we recommended the appropriate undercoat, primer and topcoat to use.

After many evenings preparing the woodwork, the customer then applied our Woco Zinc Rich Primer which is an extremely heavy duty, anti-corrosive coating ideal for extending the life of steelwork. A form of cold galvanising, this product has been awarded “Best Buy” in Practical Classics magazine.

This was then followed by our Supercote Primer Undercoat.

The customer was very pleased with the results and took the Fordson to display at the Norfolk Show in June.
