Witham Group makes donation to RAF Stained Glass Window Appeal

Giving something back is incredibly important to us, and we’re immensely proud to have raised over £100,000 to support charities close to the hearts of our staff, their families or our customers.

With our head office in the ‘RAF County’ of Lincolnshire, we were delighted to have recently supported the RAF Stained Glass Window Restoration Appeal for Scampton Church.

Following the announcement by the Ministry of Defence that RAF Scampton will be decommissioned in the near future, the window is being created to mark the historic relationship between RAF Scampton and Scampton Church. It will create a lasting memory to the twenty two squadrons who have been based there since its inception in 1918.

Supported by RAF Scampton, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, The Red Arrows, The Jon Egging Tryst, International Bomber Command Centre plus many more, the project has enlisted two well-respected stained glass designers to create the window. The design includes the RAF Scampton badge, alongside the winged RAF badge, an Avro Lancaster, Avro Vulcan and the Red Arrows’ Hawk jets, all of which play an integral part of RAF Scampton’s history.

Thanks to the support of local businesses, associations and individuals, the project has reached its initial target of over £23,000, and is now continuing to raise funds to develop a Community Church and RAF Commonwealth War Graves Heritage Centre. The window will be installed this summer and the church looks forward to welcoming you to visit it. We were delighted to be able to help with this project.
