Witham supports amazing community project in Tanzania

Last year, a customer of ours kindly donated a vintage Fergusson tractor to a special community project in Kisampa, a conservation area in Tanzania, Africa. The project is focused on protecting the beautiful local area and its wildlife from poachers as well as helping 5 local villages and their inhabitants, build a sustainable community, schools and infrastructure to support them with  local farming techniques and education projects.

Witham Group are delighted to help with the project, providing all the necessary lubricants and greases as well as paint, to help with the tractor’s ongoing maintenance.

The tractor and equipment was desperately need to transform a local community’s ability to farm,  from doing everything by hand,  to being able to expand on a larger more efficient scale.  As well as all the agricultural applications – the tractor is also used for taking  thatching grass from the grassy plains to the camp and carting much needed water.   The rivers are full of crocodiles and many of the villagers have been seriously injured from crocodile attacks whilst fetching water or washing clothes.

The project organisers have been teaching the locals to become able diesel mechanics so that they can maintain and look after the tractor. It hasn’t been painted yet due to being kept so busy! We are delighted to be helping with this incredible project.
