Prolan featured in Wind Energy Network magazine

We’re delighted to see that the Prolan range of award-winning, environmentally-friendly, lubricants have recently featured in Wind Energy Network magazine.

Read on to see the full article, which talks through the main benefits and uses of this incredible, sustainable product.

Remarkable natural corrosion protection – it’s more than wool which keeps sheep dry

The lanolin from sheep’s wool fleece repels water and Prolan has harnessed this unique product to create a range of environmentally friendly, high performance, protective industrial lanolin lubricants.

Prolan, a product from Panolin, has multiple uses and has proven successes in the engineering, agricultural and marine industries worldwide to preserve, lubricate and protect, giving equipment a longer life.

Lanolin

The main ingredient of Prolan is lanolin (natural wool grease), one of the most versatile natural substances on the planet. It’s unique properties surpass products in performance, versatility, longevity, protection, safety and asset maintenance. Prolan’s natural products reduce costs, protect plant and machinery for longer, increase productivity and are safe to use.

Today product manufactured in New Zealand are exported around the world and used in the coldest and toughest of environments to protect equipment and machinery including vehicles and wind turbines. There is a growing trend in the marketplace today for cleaner greener products. Following this trend, Prolan products are replacing traditional petro-chemical lubricants in Europe and one company in Denmark alone has replaced 15 products with a can of Prolan.

Fighting corrosion

Often it is a losing battle trying to fight corrosion on valuable machinery and equipment, whether it develops from salt, manure, dirt, sand or simply long term storage. The products can easily be applied using an airless sprayer. The lanolin acts as a wax barrier that prevent air and moisture getting to surfaces and so prevents corrosion. It is safe on rubbers and wiring and electrics, and will not break these down. Machinery can be cold water blasted after the product has been applied and the lanolin remains.

Witham Group, and independent UK lubricant manufacturer, is now the sole importer of the Prolan range of products. Nigel Bottom, MD of the Witham Group, explained:

“We have added the Prolan range to our own industrial and agricultural lubricants due to its remarkable long lasting and effective lubrication qualities, as well as being made from a natural, sustainable source. More and more of our customers need high quality reliable and long lasting products without the nasties for them and the environment and the results and feedback from customers on this product range is fantastic”

Natural grease product

Prolan anti-sieze grease has a strong following in the marine and engineering sectors. A natural grease product, which has gained international food grade approvals, is safe to use and is excellent on stainless fittings, pins, bushes and bolts.

It can be applied to any component that is being assembled – bolts can be undone years later. Excellent as a foundation bolt anti-sieze. Applied to electrical connections is non-conductive to 70kV and provides an added electrolysis barrier between dissimilar metals.
