Phone Box restoration using Woco Supercote paint

Last year we donated some paint to Doddington Parish Council for the restoration of the local phone box.  The phone box hasn’t been in service for years, since the rise of mobile phones.  The Parish Council wanted to restore it and use it a local information point and book exchange.

The box is known as a K6, or Jubilee, because it was designed by
Sir Gilbert Scott in 1935 to celebrate King George V’s Silver Jubilee.

The restoration was a big job.
The team spent several hours sandblasting it and chipping away putty
from the windows that was over 70 years old.

They then put four coats of Witham paint on it, including Witham Woco primer in grey.  It has to be the only kiosk in the country which has Ferguson grey paint on it!

The paint used was Woco Supercote TDS371 Pale Grey (00A05) and Woco Supercote BS381C Colour 538 Red Gloss.

Woco Supercote Enamel Gloss Paint is a synthetic, fast drying, paint which exhibits a high gloss finish and offers excellent durability. This product has a wide range of uses but is particularly suitable for vehicle refinishing and industrial applications. Available in an extensive range of OEM, RAL, BS4800 and BS381c colours.  It can be applied with a brush, roller, aerosol or spray gun. (TDS 370)
