Woco CreoGuard
Woco CreoGuard Dark Brown is a lower hazard alternative to traditional Creosote and other Creosote replacement wood treatments.
Woco CreoGuard is an oil-based treatment designed as a substitute for traditional Creosote, offering similar water-repellent properties, physical characteristics, and ease of application—without containing any biocides. Formulated with bitumen and wax, it provides effective protection for exterior timbers such as fence panels and fence posts. (Not recommended for use on decking or outdoor wooden furniture.)
Woco CreoGuard is ideal for treating outdoor wooden structures such as sheds, fences, trellises, pergolas, and gazebos—particularly those made from rough-sawn softwoods, which absorb the product well. When applied to smooth, planed timber, the drying time may be longer and the final colour may appear less intense. Drying and curing times can vary depending on wood type and weather conditions. Dense, oily, or resin-rich hardwoods may take significantly longer to fully cure.
Woco CreoGuard is best applied in a thin coat using a high-quality brush or a clean, lint-free cloth or rag of t-shirt-type material. It can also be sprayed on using a spray gun with a medium spray setting at low pressure to minimise drift.
To ensure there is no risk of colour transfer from the treated surface to clothing, wipe the wood with a clean, white lint-free cloth and check for any staining. If colour rub-off is visible, additional drying time is recommended. On certain resinous woods, a topcoat or sealer may be required for improved finish and durability. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area before full application. Not suitable for use on decking or wooden furniture due to limited rub resistance.
